Sony Interactive Entertainment Japan has revealed the ten best-selling games on the PlayStation Store for 2022. Topping the list is FromSoftware’s Elden Ring, unsurprising considering the way the game performed worldwide. In second place is D3 Publisher’s Earth Defense Force 6 whilst Polyphony Digital’s Gran Turismo 7 comes in third.
The biggest surprise however is Square Enix’s Crisis Core -Final Fantasy VII- Reunion which placed in seventh place despite only releasing on the 13th of December 2022, meaning the game made the list despite only being on the market for just nineteen days. Sony Santa Monica’s God of War Ragnarok was on the market for longer and failed to make the top 10.
The other notable entries are CD Projekt Red’s Cyberpunk 2077 which placed ninth, no doubt helped by the release of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, and BlueTwelve Studio’s Stray which placed sixth. Stray’s place is even more impressive when you consider that the game was available at launch in the PlayStation Plus Extra catalogue.
