The Sistema de Classificação Indicativa Brasileiro has rated Final Fantasy XVI for the PlayStation 5, whilst this doesn’t necessarily mean that the game is close to releasing it does point toward a release date being confirmed soon. Hiroshi Takai, director of Final Fantasy XVI, previously confirmed that the game’s release date would be shared before the end of 2022.
The full description from the rating on the Brazilian Ministério da Justiça site has also revealed that Final Fantasy XVI will feature “sexual content”, torture, prostitution and hate crimes. The description did not go into future details but this does match up with claims that the game would be a more mature and darker Final Fantasy title.
Geoff Keighley, founder of The Game Awards, has also confirmed that Naoki Yoshida, producer of Final Fantasy XVI, will be a presenter at the 2022 event and that his involvement will be “very Special”. This, along with a lack of a PlayStation showcase, likely means that the game will be present at the event.
