A new report from Anime News Network has claimed that Crunchyroll has laid off around 85 employees over the past week due to redundancy following its merger with Funimation. The report also claims that the layoffs were brought about to cut costs but rather due to job redundancy. Those affected by the layoffs will continue to receive benefits during the severance period. Crunchyroll is estimated to employ over 1400 employees across its 12 offices.

Crunchyroll has yet to comment on the layoffs.
