Square Enix has announced that NieR: Automata has sold over 6.5 million copies worldwide across the PlayStation 4, PC and Xbox One since releasing in February 2017. The last sales update was in June 2021 when the game hit the 6 million milestone. Square Enix is currently working on a Switch port of the game and an anime adaptation with Aniplex.
