Sony Interactive Entertainment has confirmed that PixelOpus, the developers behind Concrete Genie and Entwined, will be closed as of the 2nd of June 2023. It’s currently unclear as to what will happen to the 20-man team at the studio.

Sony Interactive Entertainment claims that the decision to close the studio was made after a review process that revealed the studio didn’t line up with its “short and long-term strategic objectives”.

PixelOpus was working on a PlayStation 5 game in collaboration with Sony Pictures Animation, the team behind Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and Hotel Transylvania. It’s currently unclear as to what will happen with that project.
