GfK, a data and analytics company, has announced that PlayStation 5 console sales in the United Kingdom are up by 316% year-over-year. February sales are also up by 27% from the January 2023 figures. Year-to-date sales are also up by over 180% compared to the first two months of 2022.
GfK has also revealed that year-to-date sales of both the Xbox Series and Switch range are down by 5.3% and 29% respectively when compared to the first two months of 2022. The decrease in Switch sales is not that big of a surprise given the age of the system, the Xbox Series range is however surprising as this should be when the platform begins to hit its stride.
Despite the surge, the PS5 still faces supply issues in Europe and North America. Sony Interactive Entertainment has confirmed that the console will be easier to purchase in 2023 but it appears as though there’s still quite a bit of catching up to do. The PS5 was also the best-selling console in Europe and North America in January 2023.
