Square Enix Holdings has announced that Luminous Productions, which is a subsidiary of Square Enix Holdings, will merge with Square Enix on the 1st of May 2023. Square Enix claims that the move will enhance its ability to develop HD games. Square Enix has also confirmed that it will not cut any jobs from the Luminous Productions team.

This follows the disappointing launch of Forspoken for the PlayStation 5 and PC. Forspoken failed to appeal to both critics and gamers alike, the game also didn’t chart high on PSN, Steam or through physical sales. Criticism of the game’s poor writing, animations and world was often met with claims of racism and sexism.

Between now and then we remain entirely focused on Forspoken. We are currently working on the previously announced patch to address overall game performance (we will deliver an update soon) and the downloadable content, “In Tanta We Trust”, is on track for release this summer.
