George Kamitani, co-founder and president of Vanillaware, has confirmed that the studio’s next game is in the final stages of development. Kamitani-san also confirmed that the game, which was originally teased in 2019, is one of the studio’s biggest titles to date.
The next game won’t be directed by Kamitani-san, no other details were revealed but it has been confirmed that Atlus will publish the title. Kamitani-san also confirmed that he is working on a new title but that it won’t be released “for several years”. Kamitani-san’s title is not in full-scale development and will only begin so once the next Vanillaware title is released.
Kamitani-san also revealed that he would like to bring Muramasa: The Demon Blade to modern consoles but says that “there are problems” preventing him from doing so. Kamitani-san did not reveal anything further. Muramasa: The Demon Blade was originally released in 2009 for the Wii, it was later ported to the PlayStation Vita.
