A new report from Insider Gaming has claimed that Ubisoft is currently working on two new Far Cry games; Far Cry 7 and a standalone Far Cry multiplayer title. According to the report both games were mentioned by Yves Guillemot, CEO of Ubisoft, during an internal company update.
The new Far Cry games were originally planned as a single package but Ubisoft opted to expand upon the multiplayer game and make it a standalone title. The setting for both games is reportedly the Alaskan wilderness. Far Cry 7 and the standalone multiplayer title are both expected to release in the fall or autumn of 2025.
The report has also claimed that the new games will be built on Ubisoft’s Snowdrop engine and not the Dunia engine which was used since Far Cry 3. Ubisoft previously confirmed that it would begin phasing out the Dunia engine after Far Cry 6. The Snowdrop engine powers games like Tom Clancy’s The Division 2, it is also being used for Ubisoft’s upcoming Star Wars and Avatar games.
