Neil Druckmann, co-president of Naughty Dog, has confirmed that the studio is done with the Uncharted story. Druckmann claims that the studio was able to put its “final brushstroke on that story and say that we’re done”. Druckmann also believes that Naughty Dog has a strong ending with The Last of Us Part II and that the studio will be happy if the series ends there but that it’s ultimately their choice as to whether it continues.

Druckmann has however confirmed that Naughty Dog will do The Last of Us Part III if they can “come up with a compelling story that has this universal message and statement about love”. Halley Gross, co-writer of The Last of Us Part II, previously confirmed that she has an outline for a sequel to the game. Gross also confirmed that a sequel was not in development and that she hopes that the story of what takes place after Part II gets to “see the light of day”.
