K-Odyssey, a branch of Korea’s Yonhap News Agency, has reported that Striking Distance Studios’ The Callisto Protocol has sold less than two million copies worldwide. The game was expected to sell around 5 million copies. As a result Daishin Securities, Samsung Securities, Shinhan Securities, KIWOOM Securities, Korea Investment & Securities, and Hyundai Motor Securities have all lowered their target stock prices of Krafton, publisher of the game.
K-Odyssey also revealed that the game cost around 200 billion Won (approximately $161,591,780) to produce, this is one of the reasons why many have lowered the target stock price. K-Odyssey believes that the games high production value and short game time contributed towards low sales.
Krafton and Stricking Distance Studios have yet to comment on the sales. The Callisto Protocol is currently available on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, PC, Xbox One and Xbox Series.
