Square Enix has announced that NieR: Automata has sold over 7 million copies worldwide across the PlayStation 4, PC, Switch and Xbox One since releasing in February 2017. The last sales update was in June 2022 when the game had sold 6.5 million copies, this was also prior to the release of the Switch port.

Square Enix also revealed that NieR Replicant ver.1.22474487139 has sold over 1.5 million copies worldwide across the PlayStation 4, PC and Xbox since releasing in April 2021. The last sales update was in June 2021 when the game had sold 1 million copies. The original version of the game shipped 500,000 copies.
