Hiroshi Takai, director of Final Fantasy XVI, has confirmed that the game will have a new game plus mode available at launch. According to Takai-san, the new game plus mode will see Clive’s gear, level and abilities transfer over to the fresh playthrough and enemy levels will be adjusted to balance the game.

Takai-san has also confirmed that the game will have a Story and hard difficulty at launch to provide an experience for any type of player. The Story mode will automatically chain movesets together whilst drastically reducing the damage and frequency of enemy attacks. Takai-san did not provide any info about the hard mode.

Final Fantasy XVI is due out in the Summer of 2023 for the PlayStation 5, the game is also in development for PC.

Unexpected events set Clive on a dark and dangerous road to revenge.
