Square Enix has announced that Final Fantasy XIV has surpassed 27 million players worldwide across the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and PC. The last player count update was in October 2021 when the game had reached 24 million players. Square Enix did not update the active player count, which was over 1.6 million in November 2021.
Naoki Yoshida, director of the game, has also confirmed that Square Enix will be hosting three Final Fantasy XIV Fan Festivals in 2023.
