Hermen Hulst, head of PlayStation Studios, has confirmed that live-service titles from PlayStation Studios will launch day-and-date on PC whilst singleplayer games will take at least one year. Hulst has also confirmed that singleplayer games are still a priority for Sony Interactive Entertainment as they are the most profitable games.
Hulst also revealed that both the newly acquired teams and existing studios will work on live-service titles, not all of which will be new IP. This supports previous claims from Sony Group about wanting to expand existing IP to live-service models. Some of the first-party titles in development may also come to PS4 but it will be assessed on a case-by-case basis as Sony doesn’t want to leave millions behind.
Hulst was also questioned about new IP from Japan and reviving franchises created by the now defunct Japan Studio to which he claimed that PlayStation Studios has Team Asobi and various partner titles in development. Hulst was unwilling to delve more into the subject.
