A new report from Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier has claimed that the Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic remake has been delayed indefinitely. The news comes from two former Aspyr Media employees who were recently fired. The art director and design director for the remake were fired, and Aspyr Media informed employees that the project would be put on hold as it began searching for new contracts and development opportunities.
The report also claims that the reason for the delay was due to the high costs for a demo and management believing that the project would not be feasible in its current state. This would probably come from Aspyr Media’s parent company, the Embracer Group. The report states that a “disproportionate amount of time and money” was put into a demo for the game. The demo, which was shown to both the games publishing partners (Lucasfilm and Sony Interactive Entertainment, received a positive reception.
The Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic remake is now expected to release sometime in 2025. The game is in development for the PlayStation 5 and PC.
