Sony Interactive Entertainment has revealed PlayStation Stars, a new reward program that will be available for free when it launches later in 2022. The program will let you earn points for completing various campaigns and activities, winning tournaments, earning specific trophies and being the first person to platinum a game in your local timezone. PlayStation Stars will also have a monthly check-in reward that is earned by playing any game.

PlayStation Plus members will also be able to earn points for all purchases on the PlayStation Store. Points can be redeemed on the PlayStation Store for wallet funds or for select PlayStation Store products. The PlayStation Stars program will also “digital collectibles”, which are digital collectables such as figurines of characters or icons that are linked with Sony’s history, but no specific details on what purpose they serve were revealed.

Sony Interactive Entertainment has however confirmed that these icons are not non-fungible tokens (NFTs) and that they are not tradable, sellable nor do they leverage any blockchain technology. More details about PlayStation Stars will be revealed at a later date.
