A new job listing from Sony Interactive Entertainment has revealed that the company is looking for a “Classics Engineer” to work on and develop new emulators. The job description also states that applicants must have experience in developing both console games and PC games.
The listing does not detail any specifics but the specific mention of new emulators does point towards PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita emulation coming to the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. Venturebeat’s Jeff Grubb previously revealed that Sony had begun work on PS3 backwards compatibility but stated that it would take some time before anything would happen.
Sony Interactive Entertainment has also set up a Preservation team but no details about the game were revealed. Garrett Fredley, a member of the team revealed its existence when he joined and confirmed that he will be working on game preservation.
