Kadokawa has announced that Overlord IV will premiere on the 5th of July 2022, in Japan the anime will be broadcasted on AT-X, Tokyo MX, MBS, TV Aichi, and BS11. The fourth season will be produced at Madhouse and will see the cast and production crew from the previous seasons reprise their roles.
Kadokawa has also released a new PV trailer for the fourth season of the anime, the trailer provides a preview of the opening and ending songs for the anime. The opening song is titled HOLLOW HUNGER and is performed by OxT, the ending song is titled No Man’s Dawn and is performed by Mayu Maeshima.
Overlord is based on Kugane Maruyama and so-bin’s light novel series of the same name. Maruyama-san began the original series in 2010, it was then picked up by Kadokawa in 2012. Since then the series was published with art by so-bin. The light novel series has since produced over 14 volumes worth of content.
MAL Synopsis:
The final hour of the popular virtual reality game Yggdrasil has come. However, Momonga, a powerful wizard and master of the dark guild Ainz Ooal Gown, decides to spend his last few moments in the game as the servers begin to shut down. To his surprise, despite the clock having struck midnight, Momonga is still fully conscious as his character and, moreover, the non-player characters appear to have developed personalities of their own!
Confronted with this abnormal situation, Momonga commands his loyal servants to help him investigate and take control of this new world, with the hopes of figuring out what has caused this development and if there may be others in the same predicament.
