Sony Interactive Entertainment has announced that Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) will be coming to the PlayStation 5 sometime this week via a system software update. VRR syncs the framerate of the game to your display which should provide a smoother experience. VRR will be automatically enabled for supported games connected to a 2.1 HDMI device, you will also be able to disable the feature at any point from the system menu on PS5. VRR will also be available on games that don’t support them natively but you will be able to turn it off as well.

Sony Interactive Entertainment has also confirmed that the following games will be patched to support VRR on PS5:

  • ASTRO’s Playroom
