CD Projekt Red has announced that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has sold over 40 million copies worldwide across the PlayStation 4, PC, Xbox One and Switch. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has sold an additional 10 million copies in the last 12 months. CD Projekt Red has also confirmed that The Witcher series has sold over 65 million copies, this means that The Witcher 3 accounts for around 61% of the franchise’s total sales.
Michał Nowakowski, vice president of business development at CD Projekt Red, has also confirmed that the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series versions of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is not in development hell. Earlier this week CD Projekt Red confirmed that the development of the PS5 and Xbox Series versions of The Witcher 3 was shifted to an internal team and that the release date was delayed indefinitely,
Nowakowski claims that the studio doesn’t want to put a release window on the PS5 and Xbox Series versions of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt until the development team assesses the work required. Nowakowski also claims that the delay isn’t necessarily going to be a long period and that he does not expect the delay to push the game to 2023. No other details were revealed.
