Sony Interactive Entertainment Deutschland GmbH has announced that over 1 million PlayStation 5 consoles were sold in the DACH region (Germany, Austria and Switzerland) as of October 2021. This is “slightly” below expectations but management at Sony Interactive Entertainment Deutschland GmbH claim that this is due to limited availability. The PS5 is currently tracking ahead of the PS4 in the DACH region. Demand for the PS4 has also dipped in Germany but this is partly due to limited availability, just 85,000 PS4 consoles were sold between April and October. SIE Deutschland GmbH expects the 2022 financial year to improve due to further developments in the year, increased availability of PS5 consoles and PSVR2.
