Kodansha has confirmed that Mia Ikumi has passed away on the 7th of March 2022 due to a subarachnoid brain haemorrhage, she was 42 years old. A private ceremony was held by her friends and family. Ikumi-san was the artist and co-creator of the Tokyo Mew Mew series, she also created the Super Doll Licca-chan manga. Ikumi-san also supervised for the reboot of the Tokyo Mew Mew anime series which is due out later in 2022.
