A new report from Deadline has claimed that Sony Pictures and PlayStation Productions are producing a live-action adaptation of God of War. The format for the project is a limited series, similar to HBO’s The Last of Us, and is being helmed by Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby, creators of The Expanse. Sony Pictures has yet to confirm the project.
No other details about the project were revealed but the report claims that Amazon is negotiating with Sony for the exclusive streaming rights for Prime Video. If this project is real it would be the sixth project from PlayStation Productions, the others being the Uncharted movie, HBO’s The Last of Us, the Twisted Metal limited series, the Jak and Daxter project and the Ghost of Tsushima movie.
Amazon has also recently secured the streaming rights to the Fallout live-action series and is rumored to be in talks to produce a live-action Mass Effect adaptation.
