Koei Tecmo has announced that Nioh 2 has shipped over 2.5 million copies worldwide across the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and PC. The last sales update was in April 2021 when the game had shipped 2 million copies. Koei Tecmo previously confirmed that Team Ninja is not working on Nioh 3 but Fumihiko Yasuda, director of the Nioh series, has expressed interest in returning to the franchise at some point. Team Ninja is currently working on Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin for Square Enix.
