Yasunori Mitsuda, composer of Chrono Cross, Chrono Trigger, Soul Sacrifice and more, has revealed that he hopes that his new project will be announced in February 2022. Mitsuda-san made the announcement in a tweet in which he was thanking fans for the wishes he received on his birthday. No details on what the project could be were revealed.

Éabha McMahon previously revealed that she had recorded an Irish song for an upcoming PlayStation remake with Mitsuda-san, leading many to believe that it was a Chrono Cross or Chrono Trigger remake. Mutan Insight, developers of the Episode Ardyn expansion for Final Fantasy XV, has also begun recruiting for a “high end” Unreal Engine PlayStation 5 remake.
