Sony Interactive Entertainment’s God of War port for PC has become the biggest PlayStation Studios launch on PC, the game had over 65,000 concurrent players on Steam which is almost 10,000 more than Horizon Zero Dawn managed and over 30,000 more than Days Gone. Official sales figures were not revealed but the game is currently the best selling title on both the Epic Games Store and Steam.
Sony Santa Monica has also revealed that the PC port of God of War took over two years to develop, the port was in development at Jetpack Interactive with the assistance of Sony Santa Monica. Cory Barlog, creative director of God of War, revealed that developers at PlayStation Studios convinced Sony Interactive Entertainment to release games on PC, saying; “I think it was the collective of studios all over saying this is a really good idea. We should be looking into this. Eventually, I think it reached that tipping point. When we had sent so many suggestion box suggestions that they were like, ‘I’m tired of hearing all this. Fine, we’ll do this.’”
Sony Interactive Entertainment has confirmed that it plans to release more games on PC, the next game slated for PC is Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection, which includes Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End and Uncharted: The Lost Legacy.
