Sony Interactive Entertainment has announced that Guerrilla Games’ Horizon: Forbidden West will release on the 18th of February 2022 for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. The game was scheduled to release in the Holiday period of 2021. Pre-orders for Horizon Forbidden West will go live on the 2nd of September 2021. Guerilla Games has also released a patch for Horizon Zero Dawn that adds 60 fps support when playing the game on a PS5 via backwards compatibility.
Here’s what Mathijs de Jonge, director of the game, had to say about the delay:
While the decision to move the game’s launch to 2022 certainly wasn’t easy, we’d like to take a moment to thank all of our fans for their unwavering support; we know how much you’ve been looking forward to reuniting with Aloy and her friends, continuing her story, and exploring a new and more dangerous world. Your passion, fan art, cosplay, virtual photography, and videos have meant the world to all of us.
Details via Guerilla Games:
Explore distant lands, fight bigger and more awe-inspiring machines, and encounter astonishing new tribes as you return to the far-future, post-apocalyptic world of Horizon.
The land is dying. Vicious storms and an unstoppable blight ravage the scattered remnants of humanity, while fearsome new machines prowl their borders. Life on Earth is hurtling towards another extinction, and no one knows why.
It’s up to Aloy to uncover the secrets behind these threats and restore order and balance to the world. Along the way, she must reunite with old friends, forge alliances with warring new factions and unravel the legacy of the ancient past – all the while trying to stay one step ahead of a seemingly undefeatable new enemy.
