Activision has released a new update for Call of Duty: Warzone that adds 4K and 120 fps support when playing the game on the PlayStation 5 via backwards compatibility. This makes Call of Duty: Warzone the first game to add 120 fps support without the release of a native PS5 port, hinting at Sony Interactive Entertainment making some behind the scenes changes on the PS5’s backwards compatibility.

Blizzard Entertainment and Psyonix both claimed that a PS5 port would be required to add 120 fps support to Overwatch and Rocket League. The recent PS5 upgrade of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order also had the ability to read PS4 save files without the requirement of uploading a save in-game, something which wasn’t previously possible. Sony Interactive Entertainment has yet to announce any updates to the PS5 backwards compatibility.
