New documents from the Apple vs Epic Games lawsuit has revealed that Sony Interactive Entertainment has a compensation clause in place for games with crossplay. The clause essentially means that developers that have crossplay enabled will have to compensate Sony Interactive Entertainment if players spend the majority of their time playing on PlayStation but spend money on microtransactions elsewhere. Tim Sweeney, CEO of Epic Games, also confirmed that Microsoft and Nintendo have no such policies in place. It’s currently unclear as to whether this compensation clause is still in place.
