Sony Interactive Entertainment has announced that it will be investing a further ¥20 billion yen (around $185 million) in its first-party studios in 2021 to help increase its exclusive output. Sony Interactive Entertainment will also be partnering with more external studios for exclusive games similar to the recent partnerships with Jade Raymond’s Haven Studios and Firewalker Studios.
Sony Interactive Entertainment also revealed that it expects first-party sales to decrease in the first quarter of 2021 (three month period ending on the 31st of June 2021) but it expects sales to rise back up from the second quarter onwards. Returnal and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart are due out in the first quarter, no first-party exclusives have been dated for beyond the first quarter.
