Toei has announced that Hideaki Anno (Evangelion) will be writing and directing the Shin Kamen Rider live-action movie, the movie is due out in March 2023 in Japan. Anno-san confirmed that discussions about the movie began six years ago but the production was delayed due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Here’s what Anno-san had to say:

Five decades ago, almost every grade school boy was enthralled by the life-size hero Kamen Rider. I was no exception. I launched this project out of the desire to give back a little for the great gifts I received from the TV shows five decades ago, in the form of a movie five decades later.
