Deadline has reported that PlayStation Productions are producing a live-action movie adaptation of Sucker Punch Productions’ Ghost of Tsushima with Sony Pictures. Chad Stahelski, director of John Wick, will direct the movie at 87Eleven Entertainment. Sucker Punch Productions’ Peter Kang will oversee the product for the studio.

The report also confirmed that Ghost of Tsushima has sold over 6.5 million copies worldwide on the PlayStation 4. The last sales update was in November 2020 when the game hit the 5 million milestone. The game had sold over 2.4 million copies within its first three days of release, making it the biggest debut for a new PlayStation IP.

Here’s what Asad Qizilbash, head of PlayStation Productions, had to say:

We’re excited to be partnering with Chad and 87Eleven Entertainment, to bring their vision of Jin’s story to the big screen. We love working with creative partners like Chad, who have a passion for our games, ensuring we can create rich adaptations that will excite our fans and new audiences.
