Sony Interactive Entertainment has confirmed that they are working on a next-gen PlayStation VR system for the PlayStation 5. The headset will connect to the PS5 through a single cable and will enhance “everything from resolution and field of view, to tracking and input”.
The headset is currently without a name and it won’t be releasing in 2021 either. New controllers are also being produced for the headset, VR controllers will have improved ergonomics and several key features from the PS5’s DualSense controller.
Here’s what Hideaki Nishino, senior vice president of platform planning and management, had to say:
Today, I’m pleased to share that our next-generation VR system will be coming to PlayStation 5, enabling the ultimate entertainment experience with more dramatic leaps in performance and interactivity. Players will feel an even greater sense of presence and become even more immersed in their game worlds once they put on the new headset.
