Sony Interactive Entertainment has spent ¥34,360 million ($329 million) on upcoming second-party publishing deals as of the 31st of December 2020, this figure is to be paid out within the next seven years.
This does not include timed or console exclusive third-party titles like Final Fantasy XVI or Project Athia but rather games that Sony Interactive Entertainment published, like the Demon’s Souls remake and the upcoming Returnal.
This figure is only for deals secured as of the 31st of December 2020 and given that it is only being paid over 7 years it likely means that this is for unannounced titles. Several developers have previously revealed that publishers only pay out once specific milestones in the development process are met.
